The COVID-19 vaccines that are rolling out across the US and the world are our only hope for ending the global pandemic. While other precautions, like covering your mouth and nose with a mask and staying at least 6 feet away from others will still need to be adhered to — for the time being — in order to stop the pandemic it is imperative that we use every tool available. Even a small number of unvaccinated people greatly increases the chances that the virus continues to spread and survives.

Vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if and when you are exposed. Even if you have had prior exposure to the coronavirus, we still don’t know for sure how long after infection someone is protected from contracting COVID-19 again, and early evidence suggests immunity from COVID-19 may not last long after an infection. Like face masks and social-distancing, getting vaccinated is not only for your own protection, but also to help protect the people around you, including your loved ones.

Wishing you health and safety this holiday season and always,
