Christian J. Funck-Brentano, MD, PhD
Dr. Funck-Brentano is Director of the Clinical Investigation Center at Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital, Paris, France, and a Professor of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at Pierre et Marie Curie University Medical Center. Dr. Funck-Brentano obtained his M.D. from Pitié-Salpêtrière University in 1982. He completed his internal medicine and cardiology training within the hospitals of Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris. He trained in clinical pharmacology at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee from 1986 to 1988, and received his Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology at Paris 6 University in 1990.
Dr. Funck-Brentano has authored over 150 scientific manuscripts concerning drug metabolism, drug-QTDrug interactions, drug-induced QT interval prolongation, cardiac arrhythmias and cardiovascular clinical trials.
He was a member of the Committee for Practice Guidelines from the European Society of Cardiology from 2006 to 2012, and is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a member of the French Society of Cardiology and of the French Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Dr. Funck-Brentano is past president of the Association of Pharmacology Teachers of French Medical Schools. He served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology from 1993 to 1998.
